Don’t let the racists win
Some black players are refusing to wear a “Kick It Out” T-shirt, during the campaign group’s annual week of action, and are also advocating walking off during a game if they have been racially abused. I share their horror at recent events, especially in Serbia, but are such possible actions not playing into the hands of the bigots?
Turnips 4, Swedes 4
International result of the week has to be Sweden’s 4-4 draw with Germany in Berlin after trailing 4-0. Had England allowed that sort of lead to slip at Wembley, against anyone, the subsequent media onslaught would have been ugly in the extreme.
Suarez alone after Carroll loan
Silliest loan deal of the transfer window, Andy Carroll from Liverpool to West Ham, has been confirmed. With Fabio Borini out for three months with a fractured foot, Luis Suarez is Brendan Rodgers’ only recognised striker. D’oh!
